We were fortunate recently to be given a copy of the original Spassfest Cookbook. This volume was put together by the ladies of Germantown several years after the first Spassfest took place. It was hand typed and put together in a 3 ring binder. We have made a copy to be placed on our shelves and made available for checkout. If you’ve never seen it or haven’t seen one in years, be sure to come in and have a look or check it out and try a few of the recipes. It’s sure to bring back fond memories of moms, aunts and grandmas.

The Germantown Historical Society currently has several old photographs on display at the library. The two pictured here are a First Communion class on the steps of the old school, whose members were born around 1907. The other picture is of a firemen’s outing from the late 1930’s or early 1940’s. The historical society is looking for more information about the exact dates the photos were taken and help in identifying some of the subjects. If you or someone you know could help out, please come in and jot down the information you have or call Judy Poettker with it. Of course, you can just stop by to enjoy seeing these and other photos of days gone by in Germantown’s past. They may bring back fond memories.
