Last Summer Reading Event

Join us Saturday, July 20 at 10:00am for our summer reading wrap party. Magician Rich Landry will entertain us. All kids who attend will receive an attendance prize, possibly St. Louis Cardinals’ tickets! There will be cold drinks and fun for all. You can still continue reading and earning prizes throughout the month of July. Plus our little “theater”, costumes and accessories will stay in the library for playtime fun the rest of the summer. Closed for Independence Day

The library will be closed Thursday, July 4 to celebrate Independence Day. We’ll be open regular hours on Friday and Saturday. Enjoy a safe and free 4th of July!

Fishing at the Lake

Our first summer reading event, “Makin’ Music” was a big hit. The kids made maracas, banjos and flutes. Next up, we’ll go fishing at the lake park here in Germantown. Meet at the lake Tuesday, June 25 at 11am. A representative from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will be there providing equipment, safety tips and showing us how to cast. Kids don’t need a license and will be able to try there luck fishing. You may bring your own gear, if you have it. The library will provide snacks. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT!!

2019 Summer Reading

Sign up now for this year’s summer reading program, “It’s Showtime at your Library!” Our 1st event will be making our own musical instruments on Sat. June 15 at 10am. Free popcorn and attendance prizes!

Last Storytime til Autumn

Wed. May 29 at 11am we’ll hold our last pre-k storytime until September. If you have children ages 1-5, bring them to the library that day for stories, games and fun involving all kinds of bubbles! Then be sure to sign up any youngsters ages 4-12 for our summer reading program, “It’s Showtime at Your Library!” Our first event is June 15 and kids can read on their own time this summer to earn all kinds of great prizes.

May is for Rae

All fines and fees collected during the month of May will be donated to Rally for Rae. So this is the time to pay for those lost books or late fees and get your accounts cleared up! You might want to make copies, fax something or get some keepsakes laminated…it all goes to Rae! Even if you owe nothing, any donations will be accepted.

Census Taker Informational Meeting

Want to learn more about jobs with the US Census? They will be hiring soon and have lots of jobs available with flexible hours and great pay. A representative from the Census Bureau will be here Monday, April 15 from 1-3pm to answer your questions and explain more about this hiring opportunity.

Children’s Story Time

Our first toddler/preschool story time on February 27 was a big hit, so we plan to keep them coming. We’ll meet at 11am on the last Wednesday of each month, so next story time will be March 27. This month’s theme is grandparents and families. We’ll have a couple of short stories and do a simple craft with the kids. No need to call ahead or sign up and no fees involved. If you can join us, please come to the library on March 27 and bring the kiddos in your life ages 1-5.

Tax Forms

Illinois and some Federal tax forms and instruction booklets are here. We are still waiting for others. You are welcome to pick up free copies in our lobby. For other forms, to pay online or efile, just go to IRS.gov.
