Cemetery Walk at Germantown October 4, 2025

The Germantown Historical Society will be having its 4th Cemetery Walk on Saturday, Oct. 4 10:00 am at the St. Boniface Cemetery on Munster Street in Germantown.  This year’s walk will focus on the following people who each played a significant part in Germantown history:

Jack Bergmann: Korean War Veteran and founder of Germantown Library, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. 

Henry F. Hemann: Custodian/maintenance man for the church, school, rectory, and convent, and a volunteer firefighter.

Dr. Bernard J. Meirink: Local teacher, physician, and a 4-term mayor in Germantown. 

Edward “Eddie” & Ann Heidemann: Owners of Eddie’s Tavern, operated the Starlite restaurant, known for Ann’s fresh baked pies.

Aloys “Ollie” Molitor: WW II Veteran, owner of the Starlite motel and gas station where he also sold and repaired TV’s.

Mark your calendar to hear these interesting stories and more on Saturday, Oct. 4,10:00 am.

The new GHS building on Mill Street will be open for viewing after the Cemetery Walk until 2 pm.  Come see Germantown’s history on display.  There are no public facilities.

Events for September 2025

Celebrating 30 Years!!

Story Night – Thursday, September 18th – 6:30 – Join us for a Pirate Party!!  We will read stories and make Pirate Swords and Pirate Hats.

Block Party Night – Tuesday, September 30th – Drop in anytime between 5:00-7:00.  We will have Lego, building blocks, bristle blocks, and Zoob builders.

Joe Langenhorst is sharing more of his collection with us.  Stop by to see this fantastic assortment of antique tools.

Free Streaming Service – If you have a Germantown library card you have access to our Biblio+ streaming service.  Features include Hallmark movies, content from the BBC, documentaries, etc.  Stop by or call the library for more information. 618-523-4820

Do you have old pairs of eyeglasses that need to be recycled?  The Breese Lions Club has donated a drop box to the library for that purpose.  The box is available during regular library hours.
