Coloring Contest Entries Due April 4

Don’t forget to turn your coloring contest entries in here at the library by closing at 4pm on April 4.  We’ll be choosing a winner from each class and those lucky children will each get a special prize.  (coloring sheets were given to children in grades kindergarten through 4th grade)

We’re Hiring!

Germantown Library is now accepting applications for the position of part-time Library Clerk.  The position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including some daytimes, evenings and Saturday mornings, for a total of 15-18 hours per week.  Applicants must be 18 and hold a high school diploma or the equivalent.  We’re looking for someone who is dependable, friendly, able to work independently and committed to high quality customer service.  Basic computer skills are a must; prior library experience is not necessary, but would be a plus.  Stop in soon to pick up an application or ask about the job.  You can also call us at 523-4820 for more information.  Applications must be returned by April 11.

Tax Time

Well, it’s that time of year – tax time!  If you are in need of tax forms, we have them.  No charge.  We also have booklets with tax tables and directions for filling out the forms.  If you are in need of Federal or State tax forms, just stop in and pick them up.

Spring Health Fair

Once again St. Joseph’s Hospital is offering its Spring Health Fair at several convenient locations.  The first will be Wed. March 7 at the Breese KC hall.  There will also be Health Fair dates at the Carlyle KC, the Trenton 1st UMC and finally on April 18 at the Germantown American Legion.  If you’d like to pre-register, we have forms available here at the library.

Changes to Website for Book Lovers

Are you always on the lookout for new titles or authors to read?  Check out the “Book Lover’s Links” tab just below the picture on our website.  Just click on that tab and get some great URLs to find new reads.  We’ve recently added 2 that we really like – http://www.fantasticfiction.com and http://www.bookreporter.com.  Try them out.  If you see something you’re interested in, simply place a request in the Library Catalog or let us know and we’ll be glad to get it for you!

Peter Rabbit is Coming

Join us Friday, Feb. 9 at 7pm for a special Peter Rabbit event!

We’ll have a story, snacks, a video, and crafts and games for all to enjoy.  This event is free and open to all young patrons and their families.  We’ve heard there might even be an appearance by a very special rabbit, so you won’t want to miss this!!

Nifty Knitters Begins Again

4-H Nifty Knitters Spin Club will again be meeting at the library

Beginning Feb. 1 you can come to the library to learn to knit.  The 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 7:45pm there will be 2 leaders available to help those age 8 and up learn how to knit.  You do not currently need to be a 4-H member to take this class.  The cost is $10 and you will need your own set of size 8 or 9 knitting needles, a pair of scissors and practice yarn.  To register, call the 4-H extension office at 526-4551 or sign up at the library.  The class will run through April.
